“From our business perspective, there is more mobility and freedom that we can have to not be sitting in an office all day, because we can do so much remotely.”

Art Lewis is a Real Estate Agent at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in downtown San Diego. He gained interest in real estate when a real estate agent was selling a house across the street. His dad told him he should talk with him, and now this will be his 20th year in the industry.

Working during the Covid pandemic has forced Art to adapt, such as the number of people that can be at a property as well as sanitization and social distancing. Covid has made some aspects of his work easier and some harder. An aspect that has made his work easier is the more online approach to communicating. For instance, it has made attending meetings easier because he doesn’t have to commute to any particular place. An aspect that has made his work harder is making sure he is authorized to be at a property, where before Covid there were fewer regulations.

In the future, when Covid diminishes, Art thinks the virtual portion of his work that arose because of the pandemic is here to stay because he can work more efficiently remotely. He also thinks when the pandemic is over, we might see more transactions in his business because people's lives may have changed, potentially leading them to want bigger and better.
