45 Years Old

Santa Fe Springs, California

Sales Agent and Commission Specialist

“Most definitely COVID 19 will change the way we now work. I think that we will become more efficient. I think that the way we run meetings are going to be much better and we are going to be able to complete more things in a day without having to travel.”

Laura Reyes Padilla is a 45-year-old sales agent and commission specialist in Santa Fe Springs, California. She is passionate about helping others, and this career gave her that opportunity as she offers health care to people, especially the Latino community. “In the Latino community, there were many people who didn't understand their health care options.” Laura studied business administration and accounting. She later learned about the healthcare industry and started working for a medical insurance broker.

The pandemic completely affected her work life. Her line of work involved meeting face to face with clients, COVID 19 changed this from one day to the next. Her living room became her home office for one whole year. She had to learn new skills to be able to communicate and make medical sales with her clients. The health care business she works with had to resolve the way they work with 65-year-old-and-above clients, which are her target population. Meetings, sales, and any intervention between people all had to be electronic.

Laura believes COVID 19 has impacted her work life in a positive way. Moving forward using these techniques and skills she and her colleagues have learned will continue to help them in the future. There is going to be less paperwork, time is going to be used more efficiently with less travel and unnecessary work. She likes the idea of having the division of work in the office and at home, but there are still going to be restrictions, things that we can and cannot do to protect our own health and safety.
