“We always say, what kind of tea bag are you? When you’re thrown in hot water, what do you look like?”

Melanie Greene was born is Boise, Idaho, where she grew up playing volleyball. Her love for the game grew as she continued to play, and eventually decided to play collegiately. Melanie attended Michigan State and transferred to finish at SDSU. Melanie graduated in 2007, volunteered for two years and was awarded the amazing opportunity to coach in 2009. That was the year Melanie Greene became SDSU's women's volleyball assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. And the rest is history, until history decided to change course for everyone. COVID-19 happened.

COVID-19 affected Melanie’s job as well as others. Not only was her schedule changed, but the relationships and interactions between her players and colleagues changed as well. Unlike being prepared for every team that came her way, like everyone else Melanie was not prepared for it, but she adapted along the way.

Throughout these changes Melanie's relationship with God and time spent with her son has helped her persevere. She hopes that even when Covid-19 has passed that she can keep implementing more time with her family into her daily routine just like she has experienced throughout the pandemic. She hopes that the world can get back on track and she trusts that God has a plan.
